Proposed Selective Licensing Areas - Consultation

Burnley Borough Council is currently consulting on proposals to redesignate selective licensing in the following two areas after the current designations end in July 2027:
  • Burnley Wood with Healey Wood
  • Leyland Road area 
The council is also consulting on proposals to introduce new selective licensing areas in parts of:
  • The Lyndhurst Road Area
The consultation will run from 3rd August 2026 to 18th October 2026, and we are inviting responses from all affected parties and those with an interest in the proposed schemes.

What is the Little Legends Olympics?
​
In collaboration with our trusted community partners and our group of young 
advisors, the Little Legends Olympics will show case a variety of sports in a festival 
theme. The key aim is to encourage participation and an opportunity to try multiple 
sports in one day. The focus is on fun and engaging activities for each sport, 
regardless of skill and ability. 
We will have access to several tennis courts at Burnley Tennis Club, and the sports 
hall, field and astro turf at Blessed Trinity College.

HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) is delighted to share that Andy Black, Café and Kitchen Manager at The HAPPA Café, has been awarded Bronze in the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.


Andy first received recognition in November last year, when he won the Unsung Hero Award at the Lancashire Tourism Awards in Blackpool. That award placed him among 17 category winners invited to go forward to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, held on 3rd June 2026.


Now in their 35th year, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence celebrate the very best of England’s tourism industry, recognising quality, innovation, best practice and outstanding customer service.
