How can NAVCA members be future-focused?

23/7/2026

Picture
The world around us is changing rapidly. Devolution, local government reorganisation, neighbourhood health, financial pressures, division and changing communities are reshaping the environment our members work in every day.

To help frame this conversation, we've published a new blog exploring why strong local infrastructure matters more than ever, the challenges it is facing and its changing face. It sets out how we think local infrastructure will need to evolve to continue supporting communities and influencing effectively. We will share this more widely to influence stakeholders and funders on the vital role our network plays, and the investment which needs to follow.

As part of this, we're reviewing NAVCA membership to make sure our network is fit for the future. We're looking at our membership criteria to ensure they reflect the changing nature of local infrastructure and how it is delivered, to reflect the world we are operating in.

We want to shape this with our members.

Lowerhouse Cricket Club is delighted to announce the opening of our brand new clubhouse extension, a fantastic addition to The Brooks Foundation Ground that will not only enhance the matchday experience but also provide a modern, welcoming space for local community groups, organisations and private events.
The extension, built on the footprint of the former patio area to the left of the steps, has transformed the clubhouse facilities and created a flexible space that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
With stunning views across the cricket ground, the room features full-width bi-fold doors that open up to create a unique connection between inside and outside, bringing visitors closer to the action and providing one of the best views in the borough.

Under 16 social media ban: your view?

21/7/2026

The UK is expected to introduce restrictions on social media access for under-16s next year. While much of the debate focuses on protecting children from online harms, we want to understand what the changes could mean for charities that support young people under 16.
Complete our short survey to tell us:
  • How important social media is to your outreach
  • Whether restrictions could affect your ability to reach vulnerable young people under 16
  • The costs and challenges of alternative channels
  • What policymakers should consider

Hot Weather, Higher Risk: Water Safety Messages

14/7/2026

With temperatures set to rise and remain high over the coming weeks, and as we move into the school holidays, it is important to reinforce and reshare water safety messages.

Previous periods of hot weather, alongside research from the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) and the NCMD, have shown a clear link between higher temperatures and an increased risk of drowning. More people may visit coastal areas, lakes and rivers, and use paddling pools which could increase the risk of water safety incidents.

Please support the sharing of key water safety messages with your networks, partners and communities. Please find attached the communications brief circulated ahead of Drowning Prevention Week; the social media messages included can be used throughout the year, not only during campaign periods.

Lancashire Youth Offer – Young People’s Survey

14/7/2026

Picture
In December 2025, the Government launched a new National Youth Strategy — the first one in 15 years. Called Youth Matters, it’s a 10‑year plan shaped with input from young people. The aim is to make sure young people’s voices are heard, improve opportunities and outcomes, and make youth services more consistent across the country. It sets a clear direction for how youth services should work, focusing on working with young people, strong local leadership, and building long‑term support in local areas.

Think CO Summer 2026 E-newsletter

7/7/2026

Welcome to the Think CO Summer 2026 Newsletter.

This quarter's e-newsletter looks at CO risks in the summer. CO is a year round danger, but people forget that gas boilers are still used to heat water and always check out for CO risks in any accommodation you stay in from a chalet to a caravan. The newsletter has some "top tips" of what to encourage your clients to look out for, as well you, your friends, neighbours and family.

Think CO Zoom workshops and the e-learning course continue to be popular. Details about both are in the e-newsletter.
