Improving Health & Wellbeing In Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale
Social Prescribing is a project that improves the health and wellbeing of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale residents over 18 years old through a person-centred approach to care. Our Social Prescribing Link Workers build relationships with clients by focusing on what matters to them and finding services provided by local community groups which improve health and wellbeing through non-clinical approaches.
What Types Of Support Are Available?
The spidergram below shows the types of support and services within BPRCVS and other organisations our Social Prescribing Link Workers can help clients to access to improve their health and wellbeing.
Social Prescribing For Children & Young People
BPRCVS is proud to introduce a brand-new pilot project offering the Social Prescribing service to children and young people.
We are basically offering the same service to children and young people that our Social Prescribing Link Workers offer to adult clients. A dedicated Link Worker will be assigned to the child/young person and will offer support to improve health and wellbeing via non-medical interventions. The Link Worker will seek out suitable support from the wide range of local community-based services.
Only children and young people who are registered with a GP surgery in the Pendle West Primary Care Network qualify to access Social Prescribing support.
Who Can Refer Into Social Prescribing?
Anyone. We accept referrals from GPs, health and care professionals, other professionals, community groups and voluntary organisations, and directly from the client themselves or their family and friends.

Every month our Social Prescribing Link Workers produce a number of case studies which demonstrate the power and importance of Social Prescribing. Read these fantastic case studies to discover the benefits of Social Prescribing and its impact upon the health and wellbeing of local residents.
Every month we compile performance statistics, feedback and case studies from each of our Social Prescribing Link Workers and produce a report to demonstrate the impact upon the community's residents.
The National Academy for Social Prescribing is a national charity, founded in October 2019. Our goal is to ensure social prescribing thrives across the whole country. We envision a vibrant, innovative, and ambitious movement. One that connects communities and mobilises hundreds of thousands of people. Each with a shared commitment to transforming lives.
