ELHT National PLACE Assessment 2026

National PLACE Assessment Annual assessment.

Patient-led assessments of the care environment (PLACE) help organisations understand how well they are meeting the needs of their patients and identify where improvements can be made. They take place across NHS trusts, voluntary, independent, and private healthcare providers and use information gleaned directly from patient assessors to report how well a site/organisation is performing.

PLACE is the only national assessment programme that collects data relating to the patient environment and the only process that provides a consistent approach so that all providers are assessing the same things to the same standards.

My holiday isn’t until September – which seemed like a good idea at the time, avoiding the August rush, although it now feels a little way off! It has, at least, given me a bit more space to reflect, and there’s certainly plenty to reflect on.

We recently published a blog about the future of local infrastructure, setting out the challenges we face as a network, and how we need to shape ourselves to be futureproof. We focus on four things: the footprint at which members work and how we influence the changing pattern of local and strategic authorities; the critical nature of strategic leadership, connecting, and advocacy; the importance of independence from the statutory sector, and what this means in the context of service delivery; and the importance of EEDI across all our work. All of that is informing our membership review, and we’ve had lots of great conversations already. There is still time to book onto the member review happening on Wednesday 19th August - book your place here.

We’re proud to share our new #UpMyStreet campaign, featuring the voices of young people from our network of community partners across the country. They’ve shared the incredible ways sport and physical activity have helped them: finding safer places to spend time, building stronger relationships, improving their mental and physical wellbeing and discovering new opportunities for education, training and employment. For some, the benefits have transformed their futures.

Share Your Experience of Hospital Discharge

We're inviting patients and staff to take part in a new survey about hospital discharge from Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.
Whether you've recently been discharged from hospital or you've supported patients through the discharge process, we want to hear about your experiences.

Your feedback will help us understand what's working well, identify examples of good practice, and highlight opportunities to improve discharge services for both patients and staff.

Opportunity Knocks August 2026

5/8/2026

August is often seen as a quieter time for career opportunities, with holidays and the summer season slowing the pace across the arts and culture sector. But there are still plenty of ways to get involved! This month’s opportunities round-up brings together a selection of roles, commissions, open calls and development opportunities across Lancashire with deadlines this month and into September - offering creative practitioners plenty to explore, apply for and share.
Got a Lancashire-based opportunity in the arts to promote? If applications close within the next couple of months, send the details to [email protected] and we'll help spread the word.
