‘Fake or Real? Know the Deal’: Tackling the growing deepfake threat

9/9/2026

Lancashire Police has launched Fake or Real? Know the Deal, a campaign designed to help young people and families recognise and respond to the growing threat posed by artificial intelligence (AI) generated deepfakes, including harmful manipulated content that can have devastating consequences for victims.
The campaign aims to give young people, parents, carers and educators the confidence and knowledge needed to embrace technology safely while understanding the risks associated with deepfake content.
Deepfakes are images, videos or audio clips created using artificial intelligence that can make it appear as though someone has said or done something they never actually did.

Commissioner welcomes focus on neighbourhood policing in State of Policing report

9/9/2026

Picture
Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, has welcomed the publication of the latest State of Policing report, highlighting its emphasis on neighbourhood policing, supporting victims, tackling fraud and protecting vulnerable people.

The annual report provides an independent assessment of policing across England and Wales, recognising the vital role of visible neighbourhood policing, improving performance and ensuring forces are equipped to respond to evolving crime threats. It also considers the Government's proposals for police reform and the opportunities and challenges they may bring for forces and communities.

Commissioner Grunshaw said the report reflects many of the priorities already being delivered locally through Lancashire's Police and Crime Plan, reinforcing the importance of investing in frontline policing, prevention and community safety.

Commissioner Clive Grunshaw - August 2026

2/9/2026

Picture
Welcome to the August edition of my stakeholder newsletter, where I bring you the latest updates on crime and policing across Lancashire.

Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls remains a key priority for my Office and continues to shape much of our work. From the ongoing campaign for Kiena's Law to our work with local partners through the #GetTheMessage campaign to challenge misogyny and harmful attitudes, we are committed to driving meaningful change and making Lancashire safer for women and girls.

During the summer recess, I have also taken the opportunity to meet with Lancashire's MPs to discuss the issues that matter most to residents across the county and explore how we can work together to address them.

We know that anti-social behaviour can increase during the summer months, affecting communities and people's sense of safety. That is why Lancashire Police have continued to take robust action through Op Centurion, targeting offenders, responding to local concerns and working with partners to prevent anti-social behaviour and keep our communities safe.

Your personal invitation to participate in the National Public Confidence in Policing Survey

27/8/2026

Picture
We are delighted to personally invite you to participate in a major new research study exploring people’s views and experiences of crime, anti-social behaviour and policing in the UK.

The research aims to improve:
  • understanding of what shapes public confidence in policing,
  • how confidence changes over time, and
  • the impact of neighbourhood policing on local communities.

On average, it takes 10 minutes to complete, and it is entirely multiple-choice. No questions are mandatory, so you can skip any you would rather not answer. If you get distracted, you can save your progress as you go and come back whenever you wish.
Let's get started!

National PLACE Assessment Annual assessment.

Patient-led assessments of the care environment (PLACE) help organisations understand how well they are meeting the needs of their patients and identify where improvements can be made. They take place across NHS trusts, voluntary, independent, and private healthcare providers and use information gleaned directly from patient assessors to report how well a site/organisation is performing.

PLACE is the only national assessment programme that collects data relating to the patient environment and the only process that provides a consistent approach so that all providers are assessing the same things to the same standards.
