M-PACT stands for Moving Parents and Children Together and is a programme that puts children and young people at its heart. The programme supports those aged 7 to 17, and their adult family members. It is a structured 10-session intervention, drawing upon psychosocial, educational, and systemic approaches to improve global functioning, communication and coping in families affected by addiction. The programme is delivered by two trained M-PACT practitioners (plus additional facilitators) to up to 8 families at a time, with sessions once a week, for 8 weeks. Families attending the programme also have an individual review session. On completion of the programme, an informal reunion brings everyone together to take part in a fun activity. The program is part of INSPIRE and With You's Lancashire substance misuse service commission. M-PACT practitioners to attend Duty and Assessment/Family Safeguarding/Child and Family Wellbeing/Early Help team briefs to explain the criteria and referral pathway into the programme, in order to raise awareness of this excellent provision, generate referrals and answer any questions teams may have.
