Leadership and Advocacy Jump to section: VCSE City Alliance: Working together for a brighter future for commissioning As part of our VCSE City Alliance agreement with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the team at VAST has been delivering a series of workshops over the last six months, focused on procurement and commissioning. So far, these have enabled VCSE organisations to share their experiences of the council’s commissioning process and voice their hopes and aspirations for the future of local authority commissioning in the city. The early outputs from this process have been the development of an early draft of a new grants policy by the council to add clarity to the grants process, and a workshop which took place to identify ways the council can ensure that commissioning processes are more accessible and equitable in the future. The next session around commissioning for City Alliance members is on Wednesday 30th July at the Dudson Centre. There has never been a better time to become a member, and we will do our best to keep members informed about ongoing changes during our upcoming Forums. While the overarching aim is to prevent hospital admissions and work more preventively, this gave VCSE organisations an early-stage opportunity to influence the way that new work is developed and coproduced, including the development of pilot work to take place in the north of the city. If you missed out on the conference, but would like to be kept in the loop about opportunities to shape future planning for these services in the city, please drop Tom Pine, Strategic Liaison Officer, a line: [email protected].
