Tech Together event at Valley St this Friday (18th October) 10.00-12.30
The event is part of “get online week” to support those who are struggling to navigate the new world of technology and to access essential services. If you are working with anyone who you feel may benefit from this event, please pass the details of the event on to them. Everyone who attends will get a goody bag and be entered into a prize draw to win a laptop or a tablet. East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) will announce shortly that they are moving out of Accrington Victoria Community Hospital (AVCH) due to the current, critical condition of the building.
As you may know, the hospital is at the heart of Accrington and ELHT acknowledge it has made an immense contribution to the health and well-being of the local community. Large parts of the hospital are already closed. ELHT say it is dangerous in places where the roof has collapsed, that asbestos is present and that it has a heating system which is obsolete, and believe it is no longer fit for the health care services needed for patients or staff. As part of the Know Your Neighbourhood project, Lancashire County Council have organised free wellbeing focused groups across the Burnley district to reduce chronic loneliness, boost social connections, and create volunteering opportunities.
