Hello! Yippee, it's our favourite time of the year – the season of giving is here! This year, A Good Thing is making it simpler than ever to support your local charities. As we deck the halls, mull the wine and crank up the Christmas tunes, we're excited to introduce two innovative platform features that will help businesses and local charities connect more effectively. First, we're excited to share that 'charity needs' is now fully integrated into the A Good Thing platform. You may have been familiar with our 'charity needs' social media posts linked to a blog article detailing what a local charity was hunting for. Having successfully made a few matches manually via the posts, we've been working to give 'charity needs' have the same easy-to-use functionality as when a business lists an item for offer. Our new 'charity needs' feature allows companies to easily search local charities' needs and be quickly matched via a simple-to-use form that connects you directly with the charity's contact. We've made the list available directly on the website to make browsing easy, or you'll see it on your dashboard when you log into your business account. Secondly, we've been working hard to highlight charities that have not found a match through the platform. Sadly, some charities have made multiple requests for items but are yet to find a match! These charities have been tagged with a yellow 'highlighted' sticker; look out for them when you list your next offer. By choosing a highlighted charity to receive your items, you can help us reach our wonderful charity members who have yet to receive the support they deserve. Below, you'll find more details on these new features and a round-up of the latest local offers. We hope you feel motivated to support a local charity this festive season. Season of giving campaign 2024
Throughout the first 12 days of December, to celebrate the launch of 'charity needs,' we will be sharing 12 charity needs on our LinkedIn account. We would appreciate your support in spreading the word and helping us make a match! How to get involved: 1. Follow our LinkedIn page. 2. Like and share our posts with your network. 3. Have a rummage about your organisation. Could you have the item a charity is hunting down? 4. Tag a person or business that might be able to support the charity's needs. 5. Get a head start, check out the list. We'd be thrilled to find a match for each of the 12 charities. Your support will be invaluable in helping us achieve our goal. Follow us and get involved! A big 'hello' to our latest supporter! We're thrilled to welcome Alessandra Maldera and the team at Excel London, who recently joined A Good Thing as a supporter. The venue has sustainability at its heart. In 2022, it was certified carbon neutral and became the first UK venue to achieve the internationally recognised PAS 2060 status, designed to help companies achieve true carbon neutrality and verify their claims. In October 2023, the venue published a sustainability strategy outlining its long-term ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ambitions. The strategy is driven by five key pillars designed to sustainably and ethically support the venue's core business as an event venue. Working with the local community and being a platform for change is just one of the five pillars. We look forward to supporting the Excel's ambitions and connecting it to its local charity network as we work together to send less to landfill and more to a good cause. Support A Good Thing in 2025
