We would like to formally invite you to the NAVCA AGM, which will be held on Thursday 13th November 2025, 10am-11am, online via Zoom. All NAVCA members are welcome to join us. To reserve your place, please sign up via the NAVCA website and add the event to your calendar. The NAVCA AGM is an opportunity to reflect on the year and to influence NAVCA's strategic direction. You will have the opportunity to hear from the NAVCA board and to ask questions. This year, we have five trustee nominations and two spaces on the board, so voting will take place in the week leading up to the AGM. Full voting information will be sent to CEOs.  Alexis has been working in-residence at In-Situ to create Memory Fabric; a sci-fi inspired installation based on the memories of Nelson and its people. Alexis uses a blend of sound, projection and animation to investigate how communities shape the stories of the places they inhabit. Communities across the UK are facing increasing social tensions - with rising anxieties around identity, belonging, and misinformation. Despite grassroots organisations and community leaders battling on the frontline to support communities and promote tolerance and solidarity, our communities are being torn apart by fear and division.
A once-unused outdoor space in Whitworth has been transformed into a safe, accessible sanctuary for carers and the wider community, thanks to a grant of £5,010 from the Crook Hill Community Benefit Fund.
The new Whispering Winds Memory Garden, created by the Stronger Together Carers Group, now provides a calm and welcoming space where people can reflect, connect, and take part in wellbeing activities. The garden, developed at The Ashcroft community building, features raised planters, sensory planting, benches, and accessible pathways, making it a valuable space for people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers and community members played a vital role in bringing the garden to life, with over 200 individuals expected to benefit from the project each year.  The wait is over! The campaign features real-life stories of ten Lancashire residents living with a range of heart conditions (including Heart attack, Stroke, High Blood Pressure) and how physical activity has helped improve both their physical health and mental well-being. To view all the stories visit Healthy Hearts - Lancashire County Council The campaign aims to encourage people aged 45+ living with a pre-existing heart condition or at risk of developing one to become more active. The areas where we are focussing this campaign are where the rate of premature mortality from CVD is significantly higher than the English average, as listed on the LCC website. Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale are all included in this campaign. The Christmas appeal is back! Burnley Together are launching this year’s Christmas appeal on Monday 27th October and would love you to be a part of it. Last year, 40 schools/organisations hosted toy, food or both bins. Due to logistical difficulties, the Lancashire Wildlife Recorders’ Conference has been postponed until Saturday 7th March 2026, when it will take place at the same venue, Blackburn College. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused but we look forward to seeing you next Spring.
