We are working closely with partners across the system to maintain safe services and ensure support is available for those who need it most.

Lancashire Drug Alert

27/1/2026

Picture
The Drug Market Has Never Been As Dangerous
  • Synthetic opioids like Nitazenes and Fentanyl along with the animal sedatives Xylazine and Medetomidine are unwanted contaminants are added to poor quality heroin and fake prescription drugs.
  • Street drugs contaminated with Nitazenes are more likely to lead to fatal overdose.
Naloxone Is The Antidote To An Opioid Overdose
Naloxone Works on Nitazenes and Fentanyl

  • Don’t use alone, as there is nobody to help if you overdose.
  • Watch out for signs of an overdose in friends.
  • Make sure you have a supply of naloxone.
  • You may have to use more than one dose of naloxone.
  • Ring for an ambulance if somebody overdoses. Naloxone is a temporary antidote, you still need to ring for an ambulance after you have used naloxone.
  • Using diazepam or pregabalin at the same time as heroin, methadone or other opioids increases the risk of overdose.
  • Injecting heroin is a higher risk than smoking it. If you do use heroin always take a small test dose with every new bag.
  • If you have test strips, use them. Don’t risk it if your drugs test positive.
  • Naloxone will not work on Xylazine or Medetomidine, but should be used in case they have taken another opioid.

The Terminally Ill (End of Life) Bill Have Your Voice Heard!

27/1/2026

Picture
As the End of Life Bill is debated in the House of Lords, the voices of community care providers are largely absent.

That’s why we’re inviting you to take part in The Silent Stakeholders Survey.

It has been created to specifically to hear from community care teams about the Bill.

Your responses will help produce an independent report that brings the thoughts of frontline care teams to the public domain.

The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Thank you for the work you do and for taking the time to complete this survey.

Please Register Your Service for the Lancashire Service Finder Directory

27/1/2026

You may be aware of the new Lancashire Service Finder — a comprehensive online directory being developed by Lancashire County Council to help residents of all ages easily find and access local support services.

When the directory goes live in the coming months, it will become the primary platform used to signpost individuals, families and professionals to services across the county. To ensure your organisation is included, please take a moment to complete this registration form if you haven’t already done so.

If you are an LCC‑commissioned service, please indicate clearly within your service description whether you operate as a public‑facing service or a professional‑only service. This distinction is essential so that residents and practitioners can easily identify which services are accessible to them.

How to fund your next community garden project

20/1/2026

Picture
Big plans for 2026? Let's make them bloom. Our recent RHS Space to Grow Report, drawing on your feedback and experiences, found that fundraising is one of your biggest challenges. So we've put together four practical, community-tested tips to help you raise the funds you need to thrive:

  1. Start local. Your Council for Voluntary Service can help you find grants and funding opportunities you might not be aware of

  2. Ask local businesses. Many are happy to support community projects. A garden centre may donate plants, while a timber merchant could help with materials

  3. Research your funder. Before you apply, check that your project aligns with what they support

  4. Show your impact. Use photos and stories to showcase what your garden does for the community

To make it easier, we've gathered all our fundraising resources in one place. You'll find support on shaping your idea, finding funders, writing applications and more.

Approach fundraising with confidence
