Check it, Don’t Chance it!’
Listen to your body. Act now on cancer
Launching Lancashire and South Cumbria’s Cancer Awareness Campaign
Help us to spread the word.  Lancashire and South Cumbria’s Cancer Alliance is asking you to help improve the early detection and effective treatment of cancer.  We want you to help launch our latest cancer awareness campaign as part of the vision to improve the earlier diagnosis of cancer. It aims to encourage people to talk about cancer, check for symptoms, and act early by contacting their GP and completing eligible cancer screenings. The simple act of encouraging this will save lives.
The campaign is based on research carried out across the region with real people.  It is designed to get attention, encourage action and improve lives.

Our News - January 2026

13/1/2026

I hope that 2026 is treating you very kindly. For me, January arrived with a bang, or two bangs actually. I toppled over on an icy patch of pavement, not once but twice. It was *extremely* painful. Please take extra care of yourselves. I feel very fortunate to only have a couple of bruises.

The advice from RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) and at least one NHS Trust, for navigating slippery pavements is to walk like a penguin. I know it sounds silly, but it’s better than a broken bone. Take small, careful steps and keep your knees slightly bent to stay balanced. Find more guidance on how to stay safe in the cold weather here.

Breaking The Cycle - Winter 2025

7/1/2026

Lucy's Winter MessageAs we reach the winter months and reflect on the year behind us, we are reminded of the importance of community, connection and compassion. At Alpha Vesta, our mission remains unwavering: to break the cycle of domestic abuse through awareness, prevention and early intervention and we are grateful to our continued funders that share our vision, investing in a future free from domestic abuse.

As we approach Christmas, many of us think of celebration, connection and time spent with the people we love. Yet for others, the festive season can be a very difficult and stressful time of year facing fear, isolation and the pressure to keep everything “perfect” to avoid conflict.
