And the explanation story from my fundraising page: Christmas Eve 2024: Picture the scene—a twinkling Christmas tree, presents neatly wrapped and ready for the big guy’s arrival. Feeling pretty smug about being so organised, I decided to celebrate with a well-deserved glass of wine. Fast forward a few glasses (it was Christmas, don’t judge!), and tipsy me started thinking: “What challenge could I take on next year?” The Community Focus Hub I manage turns one on February 1st, so naturally, I wanted the challenge to benefit Advocacy Focus. But what to do? Over the years, I’ve walked, skipped, and even last year knitted for charity. What on earth could top that? Well, let’s just say tipsy Jody is a very ambitious version of me. She decided, with the confidence of someone who’s just discovered karaoke, that 2025 would be the year I run a half marathon!🫠 Now, let me level with you. It’s been a solid nine years since I last ran anywhere, and I remember that day vividly. 🥴 It was my fitness test in the Royal Navy after returning from maternity leave for my youngest, Jakob. Spoiler: I barely survived a mile and a half. So yes, tipsy Jody has wild levels of confidence—way more than everyday, sensible Jody. But hey, who am I to argue with her? 🤣 And you know what? I can do this. I will do this. But I need you to believe in me too. ❤️ Why am I so determined? Because of the incredible people we support at Advocacy Focus. Since opening the Community Focus Hub in February 2024, our team has helped 276 people! From health and social care to housing, benefits, and employment, we’re there for everything. We help Veterans, we navigate confusing systems and paperwork, complete forms, and even liaise with landlords (yes, even the scary ones). And it doesn’t stop there—we provide a warm space, a hot drink, a listening ear, and judgment-free chats to combat isolation and loneliness. I absolutely adore what we do as a team for the amazing community of East Lancashire. Our work genuinely makes a difference, and I want it to continue for as long as possible. So, I’m asking for your help. Please support me in reaching my goal and motivating me to run further than I’ve ever run before. Together, we can ensure we keep supporting the wonderful people who need our support. Thank you so much! ❤️ Comments are closed.
