Cowpe Community Hall – Cowpe Institute – Part-time Manage

Fixed term 12 months contract


18.5 hours per week


Salary - £13.50 per hour


Option to work as a self-employed consultant


After a period of fundraising and renovation, Cowpe Institute has opened its doors to the public. We now need a part time manager to keep records, seek new business, supervise events and serve food and drink when required. We are fortunate to have received Lottery funding to support this role.


Ideally, you will live locally and you will be enthusiastic about supporting and engaging your local community.
The role will include the following responsibilities:
· Managing bookings and events.
· Sourcing and purchasing supplies.
· Promoting the Institute to the local community and potential users across the area.
· Opening and shutting the building and clearing up as required.
· Supervising catering and bar and serving as required.
It is envisaged that in the short to medium term the Institute will mostly be open on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday.


Applicants will need to be available for weekend and evening work, often finishing late.


Essential person specification:


· Over 18
· Strong network of local contacts
· Good verbal communication skills
· Patient, empathetic and unflappable
· Understand excellent customer service
· Ability to work independently
· Competency in use of email and IT


Desirable skills/experience:
· Bar experience
· Catering experience




Details:
· Location: Cowpe Institute, Cowpe
· Reports to the Cowpe Community Hall Board of Trustees
· Part-time, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to begin with Hours: 18.5 hours per week
· Payment terms:
o £13.50/h.
· Hours: To be confirmed but will include evening work on Friday and Saturday.
· Offer of employment will be subject to references.
· Contract: 12 months in the first instance
· Notice: 1 month
