LACVS Volunteering for Health project are producing a Vision for Volunteering and we are now consulting on the insights we have gathered in during 2025/6. We are asking the VCFSE sector and beyond for their feedback on the infographics, answering the following 3 questions during April and May:
This is your opportunity to have your say in a document which we hope will help us strengthen the VCFSE sector and our communities moving forwards. If you would like to have a face to face or TEAMS meeting to discuss this further we would be delighted to hear form you, or we would be just as delighted for a few sentences of feedback (even if it is just, its great as it is). We will be launching the Vision during Volunteers Week, look out for more information on this during May. We are hosting our Third Health Mela at the University Of Central Lancashire, Victoria Mill Campus, Trafalgar Street, Burnley, BB11 1RA.
On behalf of National Forum for Health and Wellbeing and other organizers, I wish to extend this invitation to you and your representatives to participate in the event. Please complete the attached reply slip and either e mail it back to me or post it to Mr. R. Shah by the due date. The Health Mela starts at 11 AM and finishes at 3 PM. Breakfast meeting for invited guests and exhibitors will be from 10 AM – 11 AM Venue will be open from 8 .00 AM onwards for the exhibitors to set up prior to attending the breakfast meeting. There are car parking facilities around the University Campus and also at Victoria Mill and walk down to Newtown Mill which is only 5 minutes walk. . As an update on the mapping work of faith locations that has been carried out in Burnley, am sending you three pieces of information which, as we continue to develop systems level working, we hope you find useful and will be able to make use of.
a. a single spreadsheet containing the raw data for the three questionnaires (family support / food / mental health) for churches + mosques. These give details of provision, times, and contact details. Normally we offer this on request - however, in Burnley our relationships and systems thinking are already well developed. b. links to the interactive maps for Family support, Food and Mental Health In August last year we commenced a new contract (funded by L&SC ICB) working in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society to deliver post diagnostic support County wide. For Age UK Lancashire, this meant the roll out of our Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Programme across Lancashire and the development and running of 9 Dementia Information Hubs, one of which would be in East Lancashire.
A day of talks and workshops about Nature, Health and Wellbeing work delivered by professionals across Lancashire and the North West.
The conference will showcase projects using the NatureWell approach to Nature and Heath in different settings including men’s groups, families and young people. We will share evidence-based models of practice rooted in eco-psychology and nature connectedness working in partnership across communities and within NHS Trusts. Our theme will include reciprocity (between people and nature), recovery (personal and community), and regeneration (ecological and systemic) using an ‘Eco-Bio-Psycho-Social’ Model. East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust supports the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a promise by the nation to ensure that those who serve or, who have served in the UK armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
Spring North and Child Action Northwest are pioneering a project designed to provide comprehensive support to families and parents who have children diagnosed with autism and those going through the assessment process. The project, operating across East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen, offers a wide range of vital services to address the specific needs of these families.
The project’s primary objective is to offer support to parents, carers, and families who are navigating the challenges associated with having a child diagnosed with autism. Recognising the significance of early intervention, the project will focus on two key areas of support: education on autism and strategies to support parents. Lancashire County Council is currently undertaking a piece of work to map community food provision across Lancashire, and we would be grateful for your support.
