Making Tax Digital For Artists: What You Actually Need to Know

21/4/2026

Picture
Join us and Ruth Gee from Accounting For Artists, for a practical session on the new UK tax changes - what’s changing, when you need to act, and how to stay compliant with confidence.

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is coming and for many artists and creative freelancers, it’s raising more questions than answers. This practical, no-nonsense workshop is designed to cut through the confusion and give you clear, actionable guidance on what MTD actually means for you.
Led by specialist arts accountant, Ruth Gee, this session will explain who needs to register now -and who can safely wait another year, so you can plan ahead with confidence.

You’ll learn:
  • What MTD is and the key actions you need to take now
  • What you’ll need to submit, how often, and when
  • A quick guide to what expenses creative freelancers can claim
  • A simple overview of deadlines, penalties, and staying compliant
  • How to choose the right software for your practice
  • A walkthrough of an example submission, so you can see how it works in real life
There’ll also be time for a live Q&A, so you can get answers specific to your situation.

Whether you’re a sole trader artist, freelancer, or creative practitioner, this session will help you feel informed, prepared, and in control of your finances under MTD.
