World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

10/9/2025

Picture
Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we pause to reflect, remember, and take action. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy that leaves ripples through families, friends, and communities. The theme this year, “Changing the Narrative”, reminds us that suicide prevention starts with compassion, open conversations, and breaking down stigma.
Talking saves lives.

When someone feels isolated, unheard, or overwhelmed, reaching out—even in a small way—can make a difference. By listening without judgement, offering support, and guiding people to the right help, we can all play a part in preventing suicide.
How BPRCVS can help:

At BPRCVS, we work with local partners to support wellbeing and resilience across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale. Through our Social Prescribing Service, Volunteer Wellbeing programmes, and community groups, we aim to reduce loneliness, strengthen connections, and help people find meaning and support in difficult times.

Today we ask you to:
  • Check in on a friend, neighbour, or loved one.
  • Start conversations about mental health without fear or shame.
  • Share resources and support available in our communities.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t face it alone. Support is out there:
  • Samaritans – Call 116 123 (free, 24/7)
  • Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Mental Health Helpline – 0800 915 4640
  • Papyrus (for under 35s) – 0800 068 4141

Together, we can shine a light on hope and make sure no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
