As we move into autumn, we’re poised to highlight the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) with National Inclusion Week – a timely reminder of the role we all play in creating a fairer, more inclusive voluntary sector.

We will also be at the Labour Party conference at the end of September, showcasing the impact of our members as well as lobbying for a better partnership between government and civil society, building understanding of the Civil Society Covenant, and positioning voluntary organisations and charities as a critical partner in creating change together.

For more on both of these, and others, in this edition of Membership Matters we also share a number of exclusive offers and events coming up for our members including: expert-led webinars, wellbeing support, details of our Annual General Meeting, and the launch of the Civil Society Almanac 2025.
Read on to find out more.

Showcasing our members’ impact at the Labour Party Conference 2025

Between 28 September and 1 October 2025, we’ll be at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool to showcase the impact of our members and the vital role they play in communities across the country.
Every day of the conference, a member will join us at our stand to share their story, highlight the difference they're making and engage in meaningful conversations with visitors. We're delighted to announce that those members are:
  • Spark Inside
  • Hope For The Future
  • Stonepillow
  • Anthony Walker Foundation
  • Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes
If you’re planning to attend, come and meet us at stand D16. We’ll be sharing the full schedule and more details soon.

Recognising the importance of EDI with National Inclusion Week

Next week (15-21 September) is National Inclusion Week, an opportunity to spark fresh conversations, share bold ideas and take meaningful action.

This year’s theme is ‘Now is the Time’, emphasising the importance of inclusion, urgency, resilience, and the need to push forward. This reflects the recent backlash against EDI, worsening economic pressures and ever-tighter budgetary restraints – and subsequent need to innovate and adapt to ensure that inclusion is a lasting commitment for the future.

Within the voluntary sector, it’s crucial that organisations are proactively inclusive and reflective of society’s diversity.
  • Get started in improving your organisation’s approach to EDI with our free help and guidance.
  •  Book your place on an EDI training course, using your 30% member discount.

Celebrating International Youth Day: Meet Youth Leads UK
12 August was International Youth Day - it was a day to celebrate the achievements and experiences of young people around the world, as well as highlighting the challenges they face. To mark the occasion, we shone a spotlight on one of our brilliant members - Youth Leads UK - on social.

Youth Leads UK helps young people turn ideas into action and lead change in the real world, supporting them to build skills, grow confidence, and shape the decisions that affect their lives.

Alongside this, it also works with organisations to better listen to young people, involve them meaningfully, and share power.

Supporting your team's wellbeing with HSF health plan - A plan that cares for the people who care
for others

As members of the charity sector, many of you dedicate your time and energy to caring for others. But the people working hard within your organisation need care too.

Employee wellbeing has never been more important, yet limited budgets, rising costs, and sustaining staff engagement can make it challenging to provide meaningful support.

That’s why we’re pleased to offer you, our members, an exclusive, affordable option through HSF Health Plan. Starting from just £1 a week for NCVO members, HSF Health Plan schemes cover practical, everyday health needs such as dental, optical, physiotherapy, specialist consultations, and more - helping your team look after their physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
