Burnley Business Week 2025 is almost here The much-anticipated Burnley Business Week is back for 2025 and is bigger than ever. From Monday 22nd September to Friday 26th September, dozens of businesses in the borough will come together to discuss hot topics, share best practice and make new connections. Burnley Business Week is in its thirteenth year and is organised by Burnley Council, with Burnley College as the headline partner. It provides businesses and people looking to set up their own venture with free support across several sessions and venues. See the full list of seminars here. Towneley Hall event - SOLD OUT! The purpose of the programme was to inspire the next generation of leaders and provide the skills and tools with which they can have a successful career and give back to the community. In a partnership between the Burnley Bondholders and the University of Lancashire (Burnley), the Future Leaders Programme has been a huge success, for those participants aged under 30 who work at a Burnley Bondholder. Register. U30 Bondholders - HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) The next U30 Bondholders will take place at HAPPA in Briercliffe, Burnley on Tuesday 23rd September 10.30-1.45. Delegates will get an exclusive tour of HAPPA, have a chance at grooming a rescue pony, eat a buffet provided by The HAPPA Cafe and network with other under 30s. Red Rose Awards 2026 open for entries Entries are now open for the biggest celebration of Lancashire business…the Red Rose Awards 2026. The 16th annual awards will be held at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on 12th March next year and are presented by Lancashire Business View. The event raises a glass to the best of the best in the county and there are 24 different categories to enter including three new ones – AI and Tech Innovation, Creative Business and Deal of the Year. Ireland’s leading solar firm Activ8 Energies powers up for UK expansion with Low Carbon Energy Ireland’s leading solar panel provider Activ8 Energies, has acquired solar firm Low Carbon Energy (LCE) as it reveals ambitious plans to expand across the UK renewables sector. The move for the Burnley-based firm comes as Activ8 eyes more UK commercial infrastructure projects following recent work on a £3million solar farm at John Lennon Airport in Liverpool. The new installation, which goes live next month, will provide 25% of the airport’s electricity. Activ8, which is 50% owned by SSE Airtricity, an Irish subsidiary of SSE, is planning to double turnover and installed solar capacity over the next few years as it sets its sights on expanding beyond Ireland and becoming the biggest commercial and industrial renewable energy provider in the UK. Advance Point business park fully complete Barnfield Contractors UK Ltd, part of the Barnfield Group, has announced the completion of Advance Point Business Park on Rossendale Road, Burnley. All units are now available for immediate occupancy, marking a significant milestone in the regeneration and commercial development of the area. As we walked into the bar area of Crow Wood Hotel to meet one of our newest Burnley Bondholders for a coffee, there’s a wedding being set up and it was a beautiful day for it. “How lucky are we to have this venue in Burnley, I usually meet most of my clients here because it’s just such a great space,” Tass Hussain, who is a self-employed financial adviser within the Quilter Financial Planning Network, told Burnley.co.uk. Fortnum & Mason take premium deliveries on the road with bespoke CoolKit refrigerated EV World-renowned retailer, Fortnum & Mason has partnered with temperature-controlled and refrigerated vehicle specialist (and Burnley Bondholder!) CoolKit, to develop a new van conversion. The new van conversion will support its order-to-door premium goods delivery service, operating across central London. With sustainability integral to its Future Matters strategy, Fortnum & Mason faced a unique challenge. The retailer required a temperature-controlled delivery vehicle capable of efficiently navigating London’s streets and buildings – where vehicle height restrictions are common – while also prioritising environmental performance. Is this the poshest cattery in the UK? Burnley has many accolades to its name – most enterprising place and friendliest town, to name just two – but there may be one more up its sleeve; home to the poshest cattery in the UK. Granted, this is a title created by Burnley.co.uk BUT after we visited Clearview Cattery in Hapton, it certainly is in for the running. Managed by husband and wife team Emily and Ryan Strange, the cattery is home to 50 chalets that are much larger than most. The feline guests enjoy underfloor heating (jealous!), an absolutely spotless environment and outdoor secure “catios” attached to each of the chalets so they can safely wander in and out as they wish. Bus firm’s interview lifeline to Lancashire Boohoo workers Lancashire bus operator Transdev is offering a guaranteed job interview to workers from the online fashion firm Boohoo after the retailer confirmed plans to close its Burnley distribution hub next year. The bus firm, which employs 1,400 people at nine depots including two in Lancashire at Blackburn and Burnley, is offering a guaranteed job interview to any Burnley-based Boohoo staff looking for a new career in 2026. Neuro-Sparks Business Solutions secures Rosebud funding to scale award-winning inclusive workplace services Burnley-based Neuro-Sparks Business Solutions, a family-run business that supports neurodivergent individuals in the workplace, is increasing its positive impact across Lancashire through a business loan and ongoing support from Rosebud, part of Lancashire County Council’s Business Growth Service, and Boost; Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub. Neuro-Sparks Business Solutions was co-founded by Daniel and Val Armitage, a mother-and-son team with first-hand experience of neurodivergent conditions. The company is now led by a diverse team of neurodiverse and disabled people including Daniel’s partner Luke Bennison who joined as Operations Director. Job Centre job fair Burnley Council are working alongside Burnley Job Centre to organise a Jobs Fair on 18th September. The council's business support team are looking for companies with live vacancies to exhibit at the event between 10am – 1pm in the stunning Ballroom at Padiham Town Hall. Cyber Wake-Up Call - Bandicoot The event features speakers from Bandicoot, Aviva, Valor Insurance, and The Cyber Resilience Centre, who will share real-world examples of cyber attacks affecting SMEs, discuss how artificial intelligence is changing the threat landscape, and provide practical advice for business protection. Lunch & Learn events - Quilter Financial Planning One of our latest Burnley Bondholder members, Tass Hussain, has been conducting free 'Lunch & Learn' sessions discussing the changes to pension legislation and providing hints and tips on looking after your pension. Some topics discussed: - Pension legislation changes from 2027. - Should I combine my pensions. - How to locate a lost pension. - How does the state pension work? Tass has conducted events at GP surgeries and local businesses and also has a session planned with Oliver Ryan (Bunley MP) to help people in the local community. The aim is to arm people with pension knowledge and to debunk a few myths, in an informal environment. He also provides lunch and cakes so come along even if it's just for the free sandwiches! Employers have found this useful as the session allows employees to ask questions directly to an advisor, rather than to HR (at no cost to them).
