Picture
Funded by Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance, Talk Cancer is for anyone in a position to promote health and wellbeing. If you’re having conversations with people and are able to share health messages, this workshop is for you.

Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance have funded this workshop and it is free for delegates living and/or working in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
If you do not work in General Practice, please select 'Other' as your locality within the booking form.
We encourage attendance from:
  • Any health and social care professionals
  1. People who work or volunteer in voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise organisations (VCSFE)
  1. People who would like to become a cancer awareness champion for their organisation

Talking about cancer can save lives. It can break down barriers to seeking help and encourage people to take positive action for their health. Talk Cancer, Cancer Research UK's cancer awareness training programme, will give you the skills and knowledge to confidently talk about cancer and health with people in your community.

What this workshop includes
Developed and delivered by experienced health professionals using the latest evidence, Talk Cancer helps
every trainee to:
  • Understand the key messages around cancer awareness
  • Talk to people about how they could reduce their risk of getting cancer
  • Help people understand the importance of spotting cancer early and the screening programmes available
  • Appreciate and address the fears and barriers faced by people when talking about cancer
  • Have effective, supportive conversations about cancer and health
  • Understand the impact of health inequalities on cancer outcomes
  • Encourage people to take positive action for their health, use local services and see their doctor with any concerns

All attendees are provided with resources and ongoing support to help them have impactful conversations about cancer, now and in the future.
