Coming Up Soon... Are you a Young Adult Carer registered with Carers Link Lancashire? Keep an eye on your emails, we have sent out a survey asking for your opinions on the types of sessions you would like us to provide. Join the conversation by completing our survey and be entered into a draw to be in with the chance to win £20. Our Participation and Engagement Team will be at Mount Zion, Earby, to chat to you about how we can support you in a caring role. If you are an unpaid carer in the local area, Angela will be there to let you know about the following: Your rights to a Carers Assessment Information on Respite (short breaks) Aids and Adaptations to Your Home Access to Benefit Advice Grant Support Peer Support Course and Activities For you as a Carer Mount Zion, Earby Wednesday 2nd September 1pm - 3pm Cohens Chemist will be visiting Carers Link Lancashire in Accrington, on Wednesday 28th October, 10am - 3pm, to hold a drop in 1-1 support session in our information hub around the 5 Rights of Medication, including: Right Person Right Medication Right dose Right route Right time Our Participation & Engagement Team will also be visiting Cohens Chemist, Oswaldtwistle, in October during their Flu & Covid vaccination clinics, and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about caring and the support Carers Link Lancashire can provide: Saturday 3rd October - 9:30am - 12:30pm Saturday 10th October - 9:30am - 12:30pm We've updated the Carers Caravan page on our Carers Link Lancashire website to include a new calendar showing the dates our carers caravan is available to book and the prices for those dates. We'll be keeping this page updated as dates are booked. If you're interested in booking a holiday at our caravan in the beautiful Haven Lakeland site, there is also information on the page on how to book your holiday. We have several dates available in October for you to book: 5th - 9th October (4 nights) 12th - 16th October (4 nights) 19th - 23rd October (4 nights) 23rd - 26th October (3 nights) 26th - 29th October (4 nights) Carers Link Lancashire/Health and Wellbeing/Carers Caravan We have 2 places available to book on our Curling Trip on Wednesday 9th September. We will be visiting an Olympic sized curling venue in Preston to try the hit sport from the winter Olympics. There will be minibus collection available from either Accrington or Burnley. To book a place simply click this link and complete an online form, you will then be contacted to let you know if you have a place. Our Young Carers visited Blackpool Zoo, which provided the young people with an opportunity to take a break from their caring responsibilities and meet new friends. Watch our video below to find out which animals some of our young carers were looking forward to seeing. Our Young Carers team are once again accepting referrals for young carers in the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley area. If you work for a local organisation and you'd like to find out about how our team support young carers, and how you can identify a young carer, get in touch and we can organise a visit. To celebrate the Soapbox Challenge which was organised by Amazing Accrington...…we opened on a Saturday! Our Accrington charity shop and café were open and to join in with the festivities we set up a hotdog stand for visitors to enjoy a pitstop. We enjoyed a busy day in the shop and the town was buzzing with activity. We will be open from 10am - 3pm for you to browse and purchase preloved bargains. To support the shop with their new opening hours we are looking for retail volunteers to help sort donations, welcome customers, tidy shelves and complete sales using the cash register. On Sunday 13th September, Joe will be running the 13.1 miles from Newcastle City Centre to South Shields for the annual Great North Run. Here's Joe's story about why he has chosen to support our charity by raising funds to support our work with unpaid carers across East Lancashire: “Carers Link is a Charity that I’ve been involved with for around 10 years as a volunteer, fundraiser and employee! All proceeds after the prize money has been deducted, go towards supporting our work with unpaid carers across East Lancashire, providing services and support.
