This Is Nelson People's Assembly Saturday 18th October 12-4pm Pendle Rise Shopping Centre Free, drop in. Join for conversation, creative activity, music and stalls at Nelson's People's Assembly! Meet local artists, makers, and organisations, listen to music, and for one time only, come and play Crazy Golf in Pendle Rise! People can join a musical performance workshop from Todmorden based Primitive Percussion Youth Orchestra as well as listening to live music from local performers. Also at the event will be the Talkaoke table, the place for a public, pop-up talkshow where you share your views and listen to others. We'll be considering the Nelson Plan for Neighbourhoods and the ways we might work together to make Nelson a greener and more playful place to live.
This event has been programmed with the support of our Food Nelson, as part of artist Dana Olaresuc’s Taste of Transformation project and will be a chance to hear more about Food Nelson and how you can get involved! If you'd like to have a stall / get involved please email [email protected]. lexis Maxwell A Co-commission with In-Situ and British Textile Biennial Thu – Sun 11am – 4pm Upstairs at the Technology Centre, Carr Road, Nelson, BB9 7JS until Sunday 2nd November Alexis has been working in-residence at In-Situ to create Memory Fabric; a sci-fi inspired installation based the memories of Nelson and its people. Alexis uses a blend of sound, projection and animation to investigate how communities shape the stories of the places they inhabit. Working with Anything here, Positive Voices and the TIN Collective, Alexis collaborated with artist Emma Shaw-Peake and Faith Bebbington to create the piece, which has a soundscape by Andrew Hillock and Matthieu Wibaux.
