After the success of our pumpkin decorating session we will be holding craft sessions every Friday at our Community Hub in Accrington in the run up to Christmas. We will be in the hub from 10am till 3pm, but the activity itself will last for around 30 to 40 minutes. There's no need to book you can just drop in. Our café will also be open for you to purchase seasonal treats. Our popular Santa's Grotto is back this year, bring your children along to meet Santa and enjoy the festivities. Have a look at the photos below which showcase last year's event. The Grotto will be part of the Accrington Light's switch on, you can watch the fireworks and lights switch on from our community garden and we will be keeping our café open so you will be able to purchase sweet treats including hot chocolate and hot dogs. This year East 17 will be performing and switching the lights on! What we've been up to in October... In October our Participation and Engagement Team went to Smithills Farm in Nelson to visit The Good Life Project. Attendees picked and decorated pumpkins and were shown around the farm, learning about different varieties of pumpkins. To celebrate all things Halloween, our colleague Sara, ran a fantastic, free drop in session in our Accrington Hub to decorate pumpkins. Using tattoos and marker pens to decorate the pumpkins, people were able to create fun, spooky designs and let their creativity flow. We'll be holding more events in the run up to Christmas and we hope to see you at a session. In October staff and Volunteers raised awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Now's #wearitpinkcampaign. We all managed to find something pink to wear and raised vital funds for a worthwhile cause.
Fundraising In October we held a fashion show to raise funds. We were joined on the night by Accy Rockers who lived up to their name, rocking the venue and getting people up dancing. Have a look at some of the photos from the night. A special thank you goes out to our Haslingden volunteers Joanne and Gillian who were busy selling tickets for our raffle. Keep an eye out for future fundraising events! Comments are closed.
