Breaking The Cycle - Autumn 2025

14/10/2025

Lucy's Autumn Update As a Community Interest Company (CIC), our sole purpose is to serve and benefit the community. All of our funding, along with any income from private work, is reinvested into our mission of breaking the cycle of domestic abuse through awareness, prevention and early intervention.

However, like many CICs and charities, we continue to face significant funding challenges, including a shortage of unrestricted income, rising operational costs and a the majority of funding around domestic abuse responding to crisis rather than prevention.

In this widening gap, the role of grassroots organisations has never been more vital in terms of understanding, engaging and responding to what's happening on the ground.  This is why we were so grateful to Essex Community Foundation and Birketts LLP to be invited to their Essex Soup fundraiser held this summer.  Attendees used a voting system to determine how the donations would be distributed between four charities and we were overwhelmed to be chosen as the overall winner.  Here is a short highlights reel of the fantastic evening! https://lnkd.in/gZA8BQXx

As a CIC, we rely on funders who not only share our vision, but who are committed to investing in a future free from domestic abuse. Sustainable funding and long-term support empowers us to plan strategically, innovate with confidence, and respond swiftly to the changing needs of our community.

We are therefore delighted to have the support from the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex for our ‘Whole Community Approach’ to breaking the cycle of domestic abuse through awareness, prevention and early intervention until 2027.

It is through the valuable role of supportive, well informed employers and members of our community that we can create positive change and make a difference to people's lives.

Lets talk more about domestic abuse; what it is and how we can tackle it together.
