Level 2 Rail Track Maintenance courses - Brierfield/Accrington January 2026

​Following Skills College UK’s partnership with Lancashire Adult Learning, recruitment is now open for the Brierfield/Accrington Rail Track Maintenance course starting Monday 19th January 2026.

⏰ 9:30am–12:00pm or 1:00pm–3:30pm
📍 Northlight, Brierfield
Course Details:
Duration: 8 weeks, Monday–Friday, 9:30am–4:00pm
 Based at Northlight (Brierfield) & Accrington & Rossendale College (Accrington)
Fully funded for eligible adults
Eligibility:
Lancashire residents
Aged 19+ (as of 31.08.2025)
In receipt of benefits or meet low-income threshold
English Level 1 assessment achieved
Right to Work in the UK
No sexual offence or terrorism convictions
Course Includes:
  • NVQ Level 2 & Technical Certificate in Rail Engineering
  • PTS, TIC, OLEC1, PPE & Sentinel Card
  • Manual Handling & Emergency First Aid
  • Small Plant Training with Competency Card
  • Network Rail approved medical including drug & alcohol testing

  • Brierfield/Accrington: 20th Apr
  • Preston: 8th Jun
