Join us for this specialist, face-to-face full-day training on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), delivered by Specialist Midwife Liz Maddran (10:00am–4:00pm). This training is aimed at professionals working within the medical field, Children’s and Adult Social Care, external drug and alcohol services, and social work teams. It provides a deeper understanding of the risks associated with alcohol exposure during pregnancy, how to recognise FASD, and how to effectively support individuals and families. The session will include:
• Understanding brain development and the impact of alcohol exposure • Exploration of the Iceberg Model of FASD to support awareness and discussion • Safeguarding-focused case study to apply learning to practice • Guidance on recognising facial features associated with FAS • Insight into placenta–alcohol transfer and its effects • A strong focus on trauma-informed and non-judgemental practice throughout This is a one-off specialist training session with limited spaces available, 15 at each location, therefore this will be fully booked within days!
