Reach New Heights With Funding & Grants

The Movement Fund - Sport England Funding Opportunity

16/12/2025

Sport England are offering up to £15,000 for physical activity projects in the community. The focus is on people who face barriers to activity and projects designed to help them join in.

Find out more about the opportunity and whether you are eligible to apply

Each year, the Movement Fund invests more than £20 million of National Lottery and government money. The priority is to support projects that match the goal of getting more people active, reducing the number of inactive people and tackling long-standing inequalities. Sport England will also prioritise projects that give opportunities to people who typically have had fewer chances to be active.

Grants or pledges are available from £300 up to £15,000, with projects being able to run up to 12 months. There is no submission deadline for the funding. Apply at least 12 weeks before you want to start activity or spend any money. You'll usually get a decision within six to eight weeks.

You can apply for projects to get people more active, like:
  • Setting up new experiences or activity sessions for people to get involved.
  • Helping improve, or create new spaces for people to be active in - or providing the equipment they need to do the activity.
  • Improving both environmental sustainability and providing physical activity opportunities.
  • Supporting organisations to build their capacity and capability so they can help the people in their community to be active.
  • Responding to emergencies that impact on people taking part in physical activity, and helping get activity happening again.
