Please see below message from LCC Resettlement Team. Please share the helpline details with your contacts, so that everyone who needs the support has access to it. Hello,
As you will be aware, there is a lot of unrest in the country currently and we are seeing more and more violence aimed at the resettled communities. We are working hard at LCC to ensure that our service users and partner organisations feel supported, stay safe and remain vigilant, and we know that you will all be doing exactly the same in local communities. After speaking with service users, it is clear that a large majority of them would not feel safe attending any migrant support sessions at this time, so we have made the decision to pause any face to face support such as the E-Visa clinics and any integration events. We are also communicating with Drop-In Centres to advise they may wish to take the same approach. It is an incredible shame to pause these support sessions at a time when our service users are most vulnerable, however we believe it is the best option to ensure everybody's safety and will continue to review the decision as the situation develops. We are using a variety of other pathways to make sure we continue to offer support and know that you will also be making these personal connections to offer reassurance. We are opening a dedicated Resettlement Helpline for people to contact should they need to speak to anybody, and we will be carrying out welfare calls with families we hold contact details for. We will also send out regular emails from lrit@lancashire.gov.uk. Please be vigilant that calls or emails that are not from this email or someone in this team that you know, may not be genuine. We would like to ask for your support in advertising the helpline and ensuring all resettled people have the correct information on what to do in emergency situations or if they experience any hate crime. We will also be sending out a poster for you to share with resettlers though your whatsapp groups and other communication avenues. If any service user or partner organisation would like to contact us, they can do so on 0300 123 6784 or ResettlementHelpline@lancashire.gov.uk. We can provide call backs in any language required.
