Coming Up This Month... Say Yes to the Dress! With prom season just around the corner, our charity shop in Colne has a fantastic offer on prom dresses and accessories up until the end of March. We are offering an amazing 10% discount on our fantastic selection of pre-loved prom items. We have a fantastic offer for our registered carers with 35% off cinema tickets. In order to access your discount code you will need to be registered with Carers Link Lancashire as an unpaid carer. The cinema code is provided by The Cinema Society and can be used at the following cinemas: Cineworld, Odeon, Showcase and Vue. Our next Moving and Handling Course is being held on Tuesday 24th March, 1pm - 3pm, at The Chai Centre, Hurtley Street, Burnley, BB10 1BY. This course is very beneficial for carers who may need to manually move somebody they care for. The course is free and will include health and safety advice on how to move somebody safely. Booking is essential, and you can book your place by emailing [email protected] We have an exciting trip to Skipton Castle coming up in March, our activities are for registered carers with Carers Link Lancashire and are a fantastic chance to meet other carers and spend a day visiting new places and learning new skills. If you'd like to book onto activities in the future, our new sessions will be listed in our upcoming Spring / Summer 26 magazine, you can also keep an eye on our social media for any last minute places up for grabs. Our next Understanding Dementia Course will be held on Thursday 12th March at Hodge House in Nelson, from 10:30am till 3pm. If you haven't heard about our Understanding Dementia course yet, it's a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and confidence to support you in your caring role. During the free one day course you'll also have the opportunity to meet other carers and share your experiences and offer peer support. What we've been up to in February... Our Colne Charity Shop has changed their opening hours to the following: Sunday and Monday - Closed, Tuesday to Saturday 10am -5pm. If you haven't had a chance to visit our Colne charity shop yet, we are at 59 Market Street, Colne, BB8 0LL, pop in and say hello! We have changed our menu and opening times for our Accrington shop and café. Our 54-56 café now offers a delicious All-day breakfast selection, and our lunchtime menu sees a couple of new options alongside our familiar classics. To make sure that we can meet the breakfast rush, we are now open from 8am till 3pm (last orders for food at 2pm), and we are offering a pre-order option if you're passing on your way to work. Our team were out and about throughout February attending events and sessions as part of our outreach programme. We attended the Hyndburn Recruitment Fair at Accrington Town Hall, Down Town Burnley, and Clitheroe Hospital, amongst other places, to spread the word about our work supporting unpaid carers and volunteer opportunities available. Keep an eye on our social media to find out where we'll be popping up next, and come and say hi if we're in your area. Our Participation and Engagement Team organised a fantastic trip to play crazy golf at The Flower Bowl, in Preston. The group attending enjoyed a fun round of golf across the course. Sessions are a fantastic chance for carers to meet new people, take a break, and try new activities. If you're registered with us as an unpaid carer and you'd like to join us on one of our activity sessions or daytrips, keep an eye on our social media, website, or magazine for upcoming sessions to book onto. Here's some lovely feedback we received from attendees: “Such a lovely break away from caring role, laughing talking and playing crazy golf with other carers. A very comfortable ride on the minibus, with time to chat with other carers and reflect on the time we shared together.” "I had a great time at such a lovely venue. Everyone was super company and I appreciated the chill out time, especially just after half term.” Fundraising We have a number of exciting fundraising events coming up in the next few months including our Quiz and Curry Fundraiser. Join us on Friday 15th May at Bombay Lounge in Barrowford to raise funds for our charity supporting unpaid carers across East Lancashire. Get your quiz team together, with a maximum of 5 people per team for an entertaining quiz led by Alyson, our fabulous volunteer quiz Queen for the evening. As part of the evenings events, enjoy a delicious curry, enter our raffle to win fantastic prizes and listen to music from the decades. We have a monthly 500 Club Lottery here at Carers Link Lancashire and we now have availability for new people to join. There's a guaranteed three prizes to be won each month, and its only £10 per month to play. All proceeds after the prize money has been deducted, go towards supporting our work with unpaid carers across East Lancashire, providing services and support.
