This time of year can be particularly difficult for unpaid carers to find time for themselves, and to access support with Christmas closures. We would be extremely grateful if you could get consented referrals to us as soon as possible, to offer the support as early in the caring role as possible. Carers Meetups over Christmas Are you a carer looking to join a social group? Do you need some me time and rest bite from your caring role? Then why not come to one of our carers meet ups, all across East Lancashire. Are you a former Carer? Have you recently lost someone and are looking for some support? On the third Wednesday of every month we run a former carer and bereavement support group for those who are no longer carers and/or have lost the person they once cared for. Fill-A-Bag for Carers at Christmas RECAP Carers Rights Day 2024 Each year Carers UK promotes Carers Rights Day where hundreds of organisations and thousands of individuals raise awareness of caring, helping to identify carers and signposting them to information, advice and support. This year’s theme was ‘recognising your rights’. You have a right to a healthy life, and we are here to support you in that. We held Information Open Day on the 21st November with various organisations, and it was a great success! We: - raised £100 in fundraising which will go towards our continuous support for our registered unpaid carers - did 7 blood pressure checks - did 18 mini ECGs, which resulted in 2 referrals to GP for potential heart conditions identified - hosted external organisations to provide additional advice and support to those in a caring role Carers Christmas Party! Get into the holiday spirit and celebrate with festive music from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kirsty Newton, a two course sit down meal and entertainment! Thursday 12th December 12noon - 4pm Burnley (location provided on booking) £7 per person We have added another date for our Understanding Dementia Course in Clitheroe due to demand:
Monday 20th January, Trinity Hub, Clitheroe, 10am - 3.30pm This course is designed to help you develop the skills and confidence to support you in your caring role. We will address key topics of diagnosis and progression of symptoms, treatment, services, and changing relationships. All course materials are provided including a free buffet lunch.
