Build confidence with Explore
On our Explore programme, young people will take part in fun, challenging activities to help grow their confidence whilst taking steps to achieve their goals.


They will gain key skills to support them in life and work, including teamwork, leadership and communication. We'll provide regular one-to-one support to help young people achieve a positive outcome.
Location: Preston
Taster Session: 10 Jun 26
Course Dates: 16 Jun 26 - 10 Jul 26

Get into Retail w/ M&S
Location: Stores across Lancashire
Taster day: 8 Jul 26
Course dates: 20 Jul 26- 14 Aug 26
Ages: 16-30


On this course young people will:
Get in-depth training in the retail industry by completing work experience with M&S, improve team work and communication skills and boost confidence, have the opportunity to gain a 12-week employment contract, receive 6-months post programme support.


Please note there are very limited placements at each store and places cannot be guaranteed until after the Taster Day.


Eligibility: must not be in employment, education or training. Must be able to travel to Preston for the Taster Day and 1 day per week of the programme.

Step into NHS
Location: Blackburn
Course start date: 2 Sep 26
Ages: 18-30


This course is for those interested in Health Care Assistant roles. It involves a 3-week course at Blackburn College including a Health and Social Care qualification and a chance to learn more about a career in the NHS. 


Successful students will then undertake an induction and e-learning before being offered a 3-week placement after the course.


Eligibility: Participants must be claiming benefits and sign up through their work coach.
Get into NHS w/ ELHT - Insight Day
Location: Blackburn
Insight Day: 9 Jul 26
Placement duration: 3 weeks
Ages: 18-30


This is an insight day offering the chance to discuss NHS values and get a feel for the Health Care Assistant role. 


Successful candidates will then be offered subsequent induction and E-learning before the 3-week placement.


This could then lead to potential job opportunities for successful candidates.

Get into NHS w/ ELHT
Location: Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital
Course Dates: 3 Sep 26 - 13 Nov 26
Ages: 18-30


This extensive programme equips young people with the knowledge and skills to kick start their career in this sector. 


It includes e-learning, training and opportunities for a wide range of placements including healthcare assistant (HCA), patient services assistant (PSA) and catering. 


Support will also be given with all pre-employment paperwork and training.

Ages: 16- 25


Join Team, our 12- week personal development programme, for the chance to gain new skills, earn a qualification and meet like-minded people.


Young people will take part in a group community project, go on a fun-filled residential trip, and develop their English, maths, communication and teamwork skills.

Free funding to train or start work
Ages: 16- 30


Our Development Awards can cover the cost of course fees, tools or equipment to help young people achieve their goals. We offer grants of up to £500 to support young people into a positive outcome.


To be eligible for an Award, you must be:
  • Aged 16-30 and living in the UK
  • Studying less than 14 hours a week or not in compulsory education
  • Unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week

Support to start your own business

Location: Virtual
Course dates: Enterprise runs all year round
Ages: 18- 30


Know a young person who is looking for support to launch their business? Our free Enterprise programme is here to help them turn that dream into a reality.


With expert-led workshops, one-to-one support, and opportunities to apply for funding, we provide the tools young people need to create a strong business plan and start a successful business.


Eligibility Criteria:
  • The programme is open to young people aged 18 to 30.
  • Young people must have the right to work in the UK, and must intend for the business to operate in the UK
  • They must own, or plan to own, at least 50% of the business.
  • If they’ve already started their business, they must have been actively trading for less than 1 year.
  • To be eligible young people must live in Burnley, Hyndburn, Blackburn with Darwen, Preston, Pendle or Blackpool.
