Gannow Memorial Tree Planting Event

Invitation to attend Burnley Borough Council Covid Memorial Tree Planting

Cherry blossom trees are being planted across the Borough of Burnley to commemorate the local people who have lost their lives to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Council leader Councillor Afrasiab Anwar said:

"Cherry trees were chosen because of their bright colours and beautiful blossoms. These trees will be a living memorial to the victims of Covid-19 and a long-lasting and lovely tribute to them."

A tree will be planted at the Gannow Community Garden at Gannow Community Centre, Adamson Street, Burnley BB12 6RB on Friday, 22nd October 2021 at 10:30 a.m. on behalf local residents who may have lost somebody due to Covid-19.

There will also be a special plaque and daffodil bulb planting around the tree.

This event is open to all the public.
