Jackie Taylor

Jackie Taylor BPRCVS Trustee

BPRCVS Trustee appointed by Civic Pride Rossendale

I became a trustee in October 2018.

In my working life I practised as an occupational therapist in mental health services in the North-West, before moving into higher education. I worked as a senior lecturer and researcher for 25 years at Salford University, also involving myself in external examining and projects and programme accreditation for the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

There is a direct link between my research interests and my wish to contribute to CVS. My doctorate explored the ways in which our everyday activities contribute to health and well-being through helping us to build our identities – we are what we do!

I have voluntary roles with:-

  • Civic Pride Rossendale, helping to maintain a town centre garden that Civic Pride created from spare land
  • The Whitaker, helping to look after the museum’s collection of objects and researching and writing small pieces.

Previously I have been a lay member of the Examinations Committee of the Royal College of Pathologists (2012 – 2017).

I hope that I can bring some useful skills, an enquiring mind and a professional approach to the BPRCVS.

I believe that it is important to maintain a good balance of activities. Retirement enables me to spend some good quality time involved with friends and family, theatre, crochet, gardening, hill-walking and writing stories.
