Supporting Syrian Refugees

A great effort at short notice

Saturday 10th March saw a fantastic fundraiser take place to raise vital monies for refugees suffering as a result of the Syria conflict.

Allison Lindgren attended this fundraiser as a representative from BPRCVS. BPRCVS supports Syrian refugees in Burnley and Pendle to attend ESOL classes.

The fundraiser was organised and arranged by the Nelson cohorts of Syrian refugees. It was held at Christ Church in Nelson on Saturday 10th March 2018 and was an excellent fundraiser and awareness raising event. It was very well attended by both local residents and staff from agencies that are supporting the cohorts of Syrian refugees in Burnley and Pendle.

The Syrian families prepared all of the food available at the event themselves to raise money due to the recent attacks in Syria. A number of refugee families who are resident in Lancashire have family in the affected area of Ghouta where the recent bombings took place.

The day saw a fantastic £1000 raised to help and support Syrian refugees.

BPRCVS are looking to arrange something similar in Burnley in the near future so watch this space for details on how to get involved.
