Hello, I’m Maahira Hasham I am the Community Connector Coordinator within the Community Care Connector Project covering the Burnley area. My role is to work with NHS professionals across Burnley to reduce the number of clients visiting their GPs with non-medical needs. Part of my role is to complete initial assessments and identify how groups within the area of Burnley can support individuals improve their social well-being.

I have had the opportunity of being part of different projects within BPRCVS. I first started my employment as a sessional worker for the Young Carers Project, moving on to activities and support worker and then working as the health champions trainer within the Health Champions Project. My background is in teaching and have taught child care, health and social care and supporting teaching and learning in schools. I have also taught short courses on employability, confidence building as well cake decorating.

When I am not at work I spend time with my family and friends and love to bake and decorate cakes and have recently taken up a new hobby of scrapbooking. Currently on my first scrapbook which is proving to be quite time consuming!

Please get in touch if you would like more information about the Community Connector Project - always happy to offer support where I can.
